With a moderate energy level, the Akita enjoys regular exercise, but they are not overly demanding. Daily walks and some playtime in the yard will keep them happy and healthy. However, their size and personality mean they often require clear boundaries and consistent leadership from their families. Those who enjoy an active lifestyle will find a great partner in the Akita, as they are always up for outdoor adventures and exploration.

Grooming this breed involves weekly brushing to manage their shedding, which can be moderate to heavy, especially during seasonal changes. Their dense double coat requires attention to maintain its beauty, but the weekly routine can be a delightful bonding experience for you and your dog. While they tend to have a mind of their own, Akitas are trainable and can learn commands with consistent reinforcement and positive encouragement.

If you are looking for a loyal and strong-minded companion in Petland Las Vegas, Nevada, the Akita may just be the perfect fit for you. With the right training and love, these dogs can become incredibly loving members of your family, offering both protection and affection.

The Akita Matagiinu were prized because they were fearless in their tracking and holding of bear and wild boar, and they were extremely loyal to their owners.

Appearance and Grooming

Akitas do require regular bathing and brushing. This eye-catching dog can be bathed as frequently as weekly up to no longer than every four weeks. With their double coats, proper bathing and drying techniques are very important. Being sure to clip this dog’s nails on a routine basis is also highly recommended.

Care and Feeding

Akitas are very energetic dogs and do need ample amounts of energy to feel their best.
The correct ratio of meat-based protein and micronutrients, as well as healthy carbs and fats, will keep this breed healthy. Many of their owners recommend feeding this breed two meals a day, spaced about twelve hours apart. It is also very important to remember to provide your dog with proper dental care. I want to recognize Natali and her team from Pets Mart on their personal attention to my puppy purchase . I decided to buy from them again since our first dog that we purchased from them has been in great health over the past 8 years . I have had him for a week and he is developing his personality and we’ve been to the vet and they gave him a clean bill of health. I decided to take the dog to my vet that we’ve had for years in addition to the vet that pet land recommends that you go to. In both cases, they found the dog to be in good condition. No parasites, clear lungs and strong heart. I know there are many options in adopting a pet, including the shelter, but we prefer to know the background of the dog as much as possible, and have some level of guarantee from the breeder of which petland gave us both . In either case, thank you Petland team for all your help.
